Teresa Longenecker

Senior Research Aide

Teresa Longenecker joined the Parenting Across Cultures (PAC) team in September 2016 as a senior research aide. She is bilingual and is primarily responsible for interviewing PAC study participants in Spanish. She also conducts classroom observations and student assessments on the study: Efficacy of the DCCS Program: ESL and Classroom Teachers Working Together with Students and Families, which examines instructional strategies to support Latino English language learners.

Prior to working with the Center, Longenecker tested dual language kindergarteners in Spanish for an evaluation of the North Carolina Pre-K program. In Wake County, she provided health and education services to Latino families and youth in the public schools. She also taught ESL to adults. She has lived and worked in Mexico and Central America and volunteers with local Latino outreach organizations. Longenecker holds a master’s degree from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree from UNC-Chapel Hill.
