2024 marks the 25th anniversary of the Center for Child and Family Policy (CCFP) at Duke University. In celebration of this monumental achievement, we are hosting several events and activities and publishing special content throughout the 2024-2025 academic year.
"This milestone is an opportunity to celebrate the people, programs, research contributions, and impact the Center has had on children and families in Durham and surrounding communities, North Carolina, the nation, and beyond," said CCFP Director Jennifer Lansford.
We invite you to join us in the celebration! Please check back on our website and this page for updates on upcoming events and new content, including our 25th Anniversary Spotlight blog series and a forthcoming special edition 25th anniversary report.
25th Anniversary Kickoff Celebrations
On September 17, best-selling author Dr. Lisa Damour helped kick off our yearlong celebration of CCFP's 25th anniversary with the Sulzberger Distinguished Lecture, titled What Teens Need Now: Addressing the Adolescent Mental Health Crisis. Her talk outlined a multi-level approach to support adolescent mental health and gave empathetic and practical advice for adults in the lives of teenagers. Watch recording here.
The next day, CCFP hosted an office warming party with a ribbon cutting to celebrate the completion of our newly renovated suite in Rubenstein Hall, part of the Duke Sanford School of Public Policy. Interim Dean of the Sanford School Manoj Mohanan, along with Sanford faculty, staff, and students came by to see the new space, which is available for both CCFP and broader Sanford use.
We also had a new group photo taken for the first time in over a decade. It's a fun snapshot of the people who make up CCFP at the start of our 25th year, although missing many!
In the Spotlight
Our 25th Anniversary Spotlight series features Q&A blog posts with former and current colleagues who have been instrumental in shaping the legacy of CCFP. To help us take a look back, our colleagues reflect on their own experiences and lessons learned while at CCFP.
