Luana Oliveira

Luana Oliveira joined Duke University’s Center for Child and Family Policy as a Bilingual Research Data Technician II in June 2024. She is eager to contribute her cultural and scientific expertise to improve the well-being of children and families through research and public health initiatives.

As a biologist, Luana is a highly curious individual with a passion for learning about all living beings and how they interact with one another and their environments. She has worked on many research endeavors in fields varying from entomology, plant genomics, and sustainability to pediatric and adult clinical trials in psychiatry, women’s health, and vaccines.

Luana has always had a particular interest in healthcare and on ways in which it can be innovated and improved for the inclusion and benefit of all community members. For this reason, as a Clinical Research Coordinator she focused on excelling in patient care, data management, and community outreach; and while volunteering at an international pediatric clinic, she aided in improving child development through ensuring quality care for minority communities and facilitating translation services for international families.

Fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, Luana is an avid traveler who loves to learn about different cultures and languages. Beyond work, she enjoys outdoor activities, reading, and creating art in multiple mediums.
