Jennifer Hurtgen is a project coordinator supporting the research efforts of three faculty teams, including Leslie Babinski, Anna Gassman-Pines, and Manoj Mohanan. These projects study policies and impacts of various populations, including literacy outcomes of young Latino learners in N.C. public schools, well-being and economic outcomes of working families in Philadelphia, and the mental health and well-being of families across India as the nation responds to the current pandemic and future stressors.
Hurtgen joined the Center for Child and Family Policy in June 2019. Previously, she was a data coordinator for the nationally-representative longitudinal Add Health study at the Carolina Population Center in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a data collector at Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute, and a kindergarten teacher in public and private schools. She received her Master of Education (Curriculum and Instruction) from UNC-Greensboro and Bachelor of Science in psychology from UNC-Chapel Hill.
