Liane Peña Alampay is a Professor of Psychology at the Ateneo de Manila University. She is a developmental psychologist with over 20 years of experience in research, teaching, and policy development focused on child and adolescent development, parenting, and cultural contexts of family dynamics. Apart from serving as the Philippines Principal Investigator in the Parenting Across Cultures project, Dr. Alampay is the Philippines Principal Investigator of Parenting for Lifelong Health, a global initiative to develop, evaluate, and scale evidence-based interventions that strengthen positive caregiver-child relationships, prevent violence against children, and enhance caregiver and child mental health among vulnerable low-income families. Dr. Alampay obtained her BA and MA in Psychology from the University of the Philippines, and her PhD in Human Development and Family Studies from Pennsylvania State University. Her collaborations with government and international institutions have resulted in multiple policy-relevant research publications and contributions to national policies including the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act, the National Policy on Protection of Children in Schools, and the Anti-Bullying Act. In 2013, she received the Outstanding Young Scientist Award from the National Academy of Science and Technology, and in 2023, was recognized as Outstanding Psychologist by the Psychological Association of the Philippines.
