Kindergarten Readiness Project

Center researchers reviewed the current standardized kindergarten readiness assessment tools, processes, and data for the purposes of identifying optimal assessment strategies and determining the current level of readiness in Durham’s kindergarten students.

Researchers provided recommendations to the Durham Partnership for Children, East Durham Children’s Initiative, and Durham Public Schools staff participating in the transition to kindergarten collaboration regarding the Durham kindergarten protocol and appropriate use of assessment data to shape planning, policy and education.

Researchers also provided partners with data analysis and reports consistent with their need, e.g., school-level readiness data, specific school statistics, etc.

A sustainability plan also was identified to maintain data analysis and reporting on a regular basis.
