Madeleine J. George

Graduate Student

Madeleine George is a second-year graduate student in developmental psychology and is mentored by Candice Odgers, associate professor of public policy, psychology and neuroscience and associate director of the Center for Child and Family Policy. Her work on the William T. Grant-funded miLife Study with Odgers captures the interplay between micro-level triggers and adolescent health risk behaviors using mobile phone surveys. Her current research interests focus on how adolescents use technology to access social support from friends and family and whether social support provided via technology can confer the same protective benefits that have been found for in-person support. She is also interested in the role of technology in normative development and how technology use can promote, versus impair, adolescent development.
