The Center is dedicated to disseminating research findings beyond the academic setting so that knowledge can inform policies and practices that influence the lives of children and families. Our commitment to service aligns with Duke University’s strategic plan calling for "knowledge in the service of society." As part of this ongoing and multi-faceted effort, numerous center faculty, researchers, and staff "bridge the gap" by advising community organizations and other entities on funding applications, serving on local, state, and national boards and advisory committees, convening conferences and speaker series, making presentations to non-academic stakeholders and partners, and delivering expert and advisory testimony to policymakers and others.
In addition, many of the Center's research projects provide direct services to children and families in the context of evaluation and scientific study.
